Turtle: doesn't wake you up 5 times in the middle of the night for feeding. = Not true, my turtles try to wake us up in the middle of the night, mainly for food or attention.
Turtle: you don't need to change it's diapers = You still need to scoop their poop out of the tank. Same thing, but without the diapers.
Turtle: if you kill it, you're not going to jail. = If you kill the turtle intentionally, and get caught, you are going to jail for animal cruelty.
Turtle: Doesn't need a college fund = No, a turtle does not need a college fund. It needs a "gotta get a bigger tank" fund.
Turtle: Doesn't need daycare while you're at work = If you are leaving the house for an extended period of time, then yes, your turtle does need daycare/babysitting.
Turtle: Doesn't need to be run to baseball practice, football practice, band practice, etc. = Only if you don't like bringing your turtle outside in your backyard.
Turtle: Doesn't need to be potty trained = True. They actually teach themselves where to go.
Turtle: Doesn't need to learn to drive = I consider swimming to be a form of driving. Hatchlings have a learning curve with this.
Turtle: Doesn't need a car after it learns to drive = Turtle needs a bigger tank with more water when it learns to swim better.
Turtle: You don't need to worry about who it hangs out with or what it's doing when you're not around = If you keep multiple turtles together, you do have to worry about how they are getting along.
Turtle: won't ask you for a cell phone at some point = No, but, they ask for everything else.
Turtle: won't eat you out of house and home = You have turtles! You know how ridiculously hungry they act!!!
Turtle: won't paint the dog = Not all kids do that, this one simply does not count.
Turtle: won't try flushing random things down the toilet = I have to dump their dirty water down the toilet...
Turtle: doesn't need any kind of net nanny internet filter for inappropriate material = You do have to separate different genders though if they try to get jiggy and you don't want them to.
Turtle: doesn't require regular doctor visits = People SHOULD bring their turtles and other pets for regular vet check ups, but, no one ever does...
Turtle: doesn't need help with it's homework = If you are trying to enrich your turtle with toys of puzzles, sometimes, they do need encouragement and help.
Turtle: doesn't need a responsible role model = Turtles learn from each other. Of my two younger ones, Ty is like a big sister to Cane, and they model each others' behaviors.
Turtle: doesn't need to be taught how to read and write = But they can learn about colors!
Turtle: doesn't need to learn how to walk = But they do need to learn how to swim. For a turtle, swimming is equivalent to walking.
