I'm so in love with my turtles i didn't know who else to brag about them except here. sorry guys!
i have two subadults that share a tank together.
one (fawks) is a male western painted, last measured at 6 1/4inches; adopted from petco, age unknown.
the other (tukumon) is (presumed) female red eared slider, last measured at 6"; adopted from a flea market, 9 months old.
tuku is very possessive and likes to hoard food if possible. fawks loves his greens and will swim to a corner and "hide" to eat them. tuku gets jealous and hovers over fawks as he munches down. she'll get up in his face and stare him down with this jedi mind-melt stare. when fawks turns his back to her she will grab his shell and stick her head over his shoulder and lean centimeters from his face, and try to push him away from the lettuce/plants. sometimes fawks with put a foot up to her face and slow push her away. my nana describes them as acting like little kids fighting over a toy.
also when fawks and tuku are eating their fish, fawks will catch them and tuku with sneak up on fawks, wait for the fish to stick enough out of his mouth and steal it from him. he'll just get up in her face and nose her nose and swim off.
they're so adorable!
