I have a res that i got a while back and i decided that i would get another one from the store. i brought it home to a clean tank. when i went to introduce them i set them on the floor and tried to let them meet each other. that didn't work they went opposite ways. so i put them in the tank hoping for the best. well my older one decided to climb on top of the young one then the young one moved out of the way and the older one tried to bite it and continued to do the same thing. i have no idea how to make them live peacefully.

Depending on the size of your tank, I don't think there is anything you can do to make them live together. You'll probably have to separate them or at least divide the tank. RES are territorial and aggressive toward each other, they need their own space.

what size tank would you recommend?

Determine what genders you have first. You should be able to tell what they are when they about 4" long. It's possible you'll need a 150-200 gallon tank for two adults.
