Title says it all, what's the oldest one you have had in your care?

Mine are still babies (around 8-9 years I think), though I have spoken to those who have had theirs for decades. Just yesterday someone was emailing me about their 54-yo RES. Just amazing stuff.

Im in the same boat as steve. My oldest is at the 7year mark then rest of my turtles go from 6years to less then a year. Not very long compared to others.

my two big ones are 16yo, and I just got 6 babies (rescued them from Chinatown, when it was so crazy cold!)

Ugh, when I worked near Chinatown a few years ago, I hated walking though there and spotting all the RES.

Happy 50th Birthday Tootsie!!! Well, today Feb. 24th is also my birthday, I am 59, married with children and grandchildren! On my ninth birthday my parents gave me my red earred slider turtle. His name is Tootsie! That was 50yrs.ago!!! Way back then before we knew about salminella piosoning you could get these little quarter sized turtles at the local pet store, plied high with little turtles. He came with a clear round plastic bowl with a ramp that had a palm tree at the top . Many friends at school got them too but sadly theirs did not live long. Tootsie has lived an amazing adventure during his 50yrs with me. I plan to begin writing about his life this year in honor of this memorable birthday in the form of children's books based on true stories.
