I love marine animals, and I recently aqquirred a red eared slider, his shell is only about and inch to an inch and a half in diameter. I have previously been looking to get starfish (they are sooooo cute :D ) it would be the approximatly the same size as the turtle, and I was wondering if it would cause problems between the two, I love my turtle (Gilderoy) and would be absoloutley devastated if anything was to happen. To recap, would it be bad to put a turtle and a starfish in the same tank if they are about the same size. Please help me out, I have little knowledge about this kinda stuff but I believe Gilderoy deserves a cute little buddy-thanks J

Red eared sliders are freshwater. Starfish are marine animals (salt water), they cannot be put in the same tank.

I hope your turtle is not in saltwater.

+1,000,000 to Linus.

To add... there are no known species of freshwater starfish.

And to add what ever you do put in the tank will likley be eaten by your turtle.

Lmao, yeah I'm pretty sure a turtle could catch a starfish if they could live together. Starfish aren't exactly how should I say....quick. However, turtles can be messy eaters. For many species of starfish, any little piece can regrow into an entire starfish. They can be annoying though, they do try and climb out sometimes. They will also mess with your coral if you can figure out how to get coral in with your red ear slider. There's an idea, maybe a nice colony of zooanthids ... The turtle shouldn't mess with those too much, they sting like hell.
