I saw this on youtube. I cant believe anyone would transport turtles in the mail and I feel sorry for the little guy for having to go through that but I do admit it is a unique looking slider to say the least. It looks like this guy collects the them.

Really, transporting turtles in a dark box is exactly what you'd do in the car, and reptiles are shipped overnight so it isn't like he was just stuck at the post office for a week.

I wonder what kind of internal disfiguration that may also bring along.

Very cool, but I'm worried how it's going to grow.

I am lucky to get my mail packages in one piece so I have a legit concern. Think Ace Ventura doing the UPS bit lol.---> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v_wGeErYTl8

I couldnt see the video clearly, but the shell seems to be like as if someone skinned off the peak part of it o.o

Matryoshka-You know how the bottom of the shell looks like? Well it had a long strip of what the bottom looked like going down the top of its shell. It looked pretty cool :)

A very interesting turtle. I'd be interested to see how it fares once it's older, how the abnormality grows and changes, and if it has any internal abnormalities to reflect the outer ones. Hopefully it's all very minor, preferably merely aesthetic, and he lives a long, healthy life as one of the most unique looking RES I've ever seen.

As for shipping reptiles, as someone else said it's not that big of a deal. They're shipped overnight and usually with stickers identifying it as live and/or extremely fragile. I've received two turtles by mail--my darling Antoine, as well as his predecessor Lola who unfortunately is no longer with us--although not because of being shipped. Both Antoine and my late Lola arrived healthy and alert. Even the most careless deliverymen will usually be mindful of such precious cargo. I can understand your apprehension though, I was pretty anxious the first time I received a turtle by mail.
