Well, hubby just walked in the door with something in his hand tonight and said, "Don't worry. It won't bite you." He held out his hand and there sat a beautiful tiny little turtle. I had forgotten just how tiny hatchlings are! He's asking his Sis about taking it for her daughter who just adores turtles. Problem we are having is that we aren't sure what kind of turtle it is. It looks similar to a red-ear, but the ears are yellow. Where our Turtimus ( a RES) has a pattern on his shell that is consistent with each scute, this one has swirls that go across multiple scutes. The back feet are bigger than Turt's were when he hatched, so I'm thinking this is a different type of turtle. This one came from the same place - pond at work. Hubby said he very nearly stepped on it. I have a couple of pics posted on photobucket.
Can anyone tell me what kind of turtle we have? If his Niece doesn't take it, I think we have just adopted a pal for Turtimus though I plan to keep them separated for awhile since this one is so little right now. Here's the link to pics:

If we do keep it for us, a bigger tank is definitely in order!
