I feed my female red ear slider, who is roughly 10 months old, and 5 inches long, every morning. I feed her pellets and veggies.

When she was younger, she would do this splashing in the mornings when it gets bright out (we turn her lights off at night) until we fed her, then she was back to her normal cheery self.

NOW, shes larger, and splashes LOUDER, and LONGER, even after I feed her, she STILL splashes. She only does this too when me and my significant other are in bed and waking up. When we are both awake and moving about, she stops.

Strange behaviour. Maybe she wants us to wake up? More food? I feed her pellet amounts according to her head size, then usually a tony carrot chopped up or something. She is fine now, as i'm sitting next to her, but in the early mornings she acts like an alarm clock!

Im about to put some kind of curtain on her tank so she can't see me sleeping.
Any reason for this splashing? Anyone else ever get this?

if she is fed in the morning she is just going to expect when you get up and start moving she will get fed. and now that she is bigger it is going to be more intense. and turtles will always beg for food no matter what. the curtain may not be a bad idea

Mine expect to be fed every morning too. They won't even bask until after I feed them.

How big was she when you got her?

My biggest blows bubbles and eats them to keep busy (or maybe for a snack) during the very early morning, like 5am i am sometimes awoken by his splashing even though they are fed at night. glad to see im not the only one
