As some of you might know, I rescued my RES from my sister-in-law's boyfriend's family (confusing, sorry). I think his little brother had bought it from chinatown or something. Anyway, they kept him in a tiny tank with gravel and tiny bit of nasty water. Long story short, I took him in. I've had him for almost 2 years now and I'm so happy I got him.

So now my sister-in-law tells me she was at her boyfriend's cousin's house. Apparently this little kid has a baby RES in a small tupperware where the poor thing can barely move. He has it w/ some rocks and a little bit of water. I asked to see a picture, but I haven't gotten one yet. What is up with this family?!! I guess the kid asked my sister-in-law if she wanted it because he didn't want it.

I feel horrible! I want to take it, however - my husband would flip. Also..... I don't really have the space. I live in a 1 bedroom apt. and can barely fit the 75gallon I have now. I really can't fit another large tank, or any tank really. My dad said he'd take it.... but my mom flipped. lol. He doesn't really have the space either. Although either one of us would take better care of the poor animal than this kid.

Anyway, long story short, I know I can't take it in. But I'd hate to see it die in a tuppeware. If any of you live in the NYC area and are willing to take it in that would be great. It's small, I don't know how small, like I said I haven't seen pics yet. They live in Brooklyn, I live in Westchester County. I'm willing to drive a reasonable amount of time to deliver him/her to you.

Sorry about the rant. If anyone's interested, let me know.

I'd try Turtle Recuse of Long Island. They might not have capacity, but they do have a large following and maybe they can ask around. turtlerescues.com

Yeah, I thought about them. I might just give them a call. Thanks.
