Turtle just laid 10 eggs. What do I do now. Thought it was a male this entire time. About 5 yrs old. Turtle been trying to get out of tank for about a month now so I get a seperate container and put her in it once a day, she wanted nothing to do with dirt. I woke up to this and shes still digging, can there be more than 10? Should i just leave her light off for now and not bother her? Will she know when shes done? Been alone all her life, must be infertile.

I'm new to turtles, so I can't offer too much advise... First, see if you can't get this moved to Urgent Care or somethin', cause you'll get more help there I think... Secondly, I'd say you should read the reproduction part of the site...

Sorry I can't be more help... :( Hope things work out well for both of you, and good luck... :)

if shes alone then yes they are infertile and you can just throw them away. If she is still digging she may have more to lay so just leave her like over night or something in there and that should be good and then back to the water for her with some food.

When my Trevor was 3, I came home from work to find two eggs in the bottom of the tank. I was shocked to discover my Trevor was a girl! I still left his name as Trevor and I still always refer to him as him( it was too tough to change) but Trevor continued to lay eggs off and on, usually in January and again in July or august for about the next 7 years.

He's always been alone, so I've just scooped the eggs out and tossed them. Trevor just turned 18 this past March 3, and there hasn't been an egg in ages.

If the eggs are not furtile you can just throw them out. Sometimes the turtle will eat the eggs if they are in the tank.
