sorry if this is in the wrong thread...
so we are looking to get some RES's, after a bad experience with Petsmart selling the wrong ones... I found this site turtleshack [not reputable].com and wanted to know if anyone had used them. Living here in AZ we don't have rescue places, and we really want to get the baby ones :)
any info on them or any other reputable online place?

I used them. I got 3 baby RES in excellent condition. I've had them for a little over 2 months now and they are growing up to be nice little turtles.

I have nothing but good things to say about them in my experience, but I've heard stories

I got mine from there as well... and i didn't have an issues but i did have one of my babies not make it more then a few weeks... i think if i was to ever get more i'd use a direct breeder... maybe check out kingsnake.com they have turtle breeders.

You can get baby RES in AZ all over the place. hit the places on the sides of the streets that sell the big carpets and stuff...thats where i got mine..10$ each for hatchlings like the size of a nickle and if you get 3 its usually 25$ instead of 30 lol...

RES are very overpopulated. There are many turtle rescues with RES looking for a good home. There are even people on this forum with RES looking for homes for them. If you can avoid it, please do not encourage the breeding and selling of RES esp from street vendors that mistreat the turtles.

Many of us on this forum, myself included, obtained their RES this way. I came to RES.com after the fact to learn how to care for my turtle. Knowing what I do now, I feel ashamed that I got my turtle from a street vendor. I would adopt or ask around on this forum for turtles in need of a good home.

I would very strongly encourage you to consider the adoption route if you can.
