im new to this site, so this question may have been answered before...

i have two red eared sliders that are about 8 or 9 months old so i dont know what their sexes are...

well today i walked in on them facing each other and kinda vibrating their front legs at each other... i was reading around from google and ppl were saying it like a mating ritual thing... well i doubt they are old enough for that, so i was wondering if any of yall knew?

thanks and gig 'em

You would be right. It also a dominace dance. It is one turtle trying to show the other turtle that he is boss of the area. Just watch out as they get older. This sometimes can beyond that and lead to actual fighting

if you offer more space that could easily stop the dominace dance or it could never stop and turn into real fighting but usually they just stop on there own. I have never had turtles bite eachother over it but iv had them do it to eachother before just to try and keep there little spot in a HUGE tank like over a rock or something but plenty of people have had it turn into more then just hand waving at eachother.
