Hello all,
I've had two red ear sliders for about 3 months now that I got as hatchlings. They were about the same size when I got them but now the one that was a little smaller is almost double the others size. I just wanted to see if this was normal or if there is a reason the littler one wouldn't grow as fast( I attached photos!!). I know not to ever compare turtles cause they are all individuals but I was just curious.Also as the one as gotten bigger he is getting less green and more brown. Im assuming that this just happens as they age from what I have been reading!!

( To avoid any controversy I dont keep them in that container I have a 20 high soon to be 40 I just put them in there to take the picture!)

a 20 high isnt good for turtles. if u get a 40 get a 40 breeder. but id suggest to go larger.

it could mean 2 things. first it could just mean the larger one is a female and therefor growing faster. u cant tell til 4" tho.
2nd it could mean that that turtle is over powering the other and getting most of the food. they should be fed seperatly

O ok then ill think about that my gf has a 50 gallon so I might look at that whatever I kind find in my budget that keeps them happy =). Thanks for the help I'm gonna go back to feeding them separtly then I just wanted to make sure nothing was wrong with him.

First, have you been feeding them separately? If you've been feeding them together, do you notice one eats more than the other?
If so, that's why one is bigger.
OR OR OR, you have a female and a male turtle! Females typically grow larger than males.
They look beautiful by the way
