I have a 25W reading light..it does give off quite a bit of heat maybe up to 6-9 inches away from the bulb

i have been using this for my turtles basking area..but 25W is a little strong right?

what distance should i have the bulb at from the basking area?

i do not have a thermometer for my basking area atm unfortunatly..

so i dont want to risk putting it a little too close and being hot

EDIT:He seems to be enjoying it so far..is there any thing i should look out for? maybe if its too hot..

You can get a thermometer for about 2 dollars. This way you'll know if your basking area is warm enough.

Well actually since sx2r said 8 inches for a 100 watt

i put mine closer at 6 inches and my turtle has been basking for almost 6 hours today haha

i think he loves the added heat
