Ive got 3 RES, 2 of them are ALWAYS together like 24/7 following eachother. but there so young, not even close to being able to mate for years and years. Possible for young RES to pick partners early in life?

Here is a pic of the two....this is a day to day thing btw...

NOTE: That is not because one turtle wants to get super close to the light, it was laying all down before i walked over so its sorta standing up near the light now, but they even do this on the cold side of the tank on another piece of wood no where near a light

No they are not mating and at this size they cannot mate.

he wasn't asking if they will be mating anytime soon he asked if its possible if there picking partners before they mate in the future

Its still to early to even tell their sex. They might be both males they might be both females.

he whants to know if its possible for them to be pairing up early but not yet mateing if the case comes to ones male and ones female

I dont think anyone knows if they pare up early, was worth a try tho.

Wouldn't it be cute if they do choose partners that early? I have no idea if they do though.

Maybe they just really like each others company. BFFs or something of the like. Lol, turtle BFFs..

Hey jwinters,i have an similar case here except it only work one side,i have 2 females one of them just follow the others around while one just doesnt care,same about basking she wont bask until she see the other turtle basking.

I cant really answer your question,res arent social turtle but maybe some of them doesnt like to be alone.

Yeah, I cant tell if mine are female or male yet (should be able to in a few months im sure if not sooner) but its pretty funny to watch. and since I have 3, 2 are just with each other and the other one is all left out...lol
