I was able to buy a brand new tub for my baby to live in. I've seen this tub at the store quite a few times and thought it would be perfect for its size. Here's some pics of the tub then the baby inside its new home.

Looks nice, but you're going to need to upgrade to an appropriate tank soon. Very cute :res:

Oh wow, I just noticed the thumbs up part. I giggled. XD

The only thing that does stand in the way of me finding another tank like the one Scooter lives in is my dad. On the other hand, Scooter needs a bigger home, too, so I am in a bit of stalemate. This will work for any other baby turtles I might find wandering around.

ummm that setup is gonna last about 2 mos. tops and then your gonna need a 20 gal or even better a 55. That lagoon is really already too small! Sorry to be the bad news bear but it's reality for turtle keepers, we spend a bunch of money to care for these turtles. And unless you plan to change the water everyday if not twice a day you gonna need a good filter. If you don't have the funds for the animals you got already then I wouldn't get anymore of them. I hope everything works out.

I just noticed but do you have a UVB and a heat lamp for your little guy?

I know it's not gonna be long until that baby needs a bigger home soon but it will have to do until I earn some more money for something like a kiddie pool for both it and Scooter. I don't plan on having them both together, not until the baby gets bigger to where it doesn't end up being Scooter's snack.

The bulb I got for the baby is a ReptiGlo flourescent. The one Scooter has is a regular bulb and it's still working after nearly two years. I only bought the flourescent to ease the electric bill a bit. Where the tub is is where lots of sun comes in throughout the morning, so even though the UVB's can't go through windows, the baby gets some heat from that. It hasn't taken advantage of the basking area though.

Yeah you need a heat lamp to get the temp up on basking area this will entice him/her to bask. You should read the articles from this website and others on the care of red ear sliders there's a lot of info on the way to care for them;)

*sighs* Now I feel having two turtles is too much for my limited time due to my new job. Scooter is quite a bundle as she is, to be honest. I have no idea where the baby can go though. I am definitely not thinking of letting it go but I don't have any friends that might enjoy a turtle.

Once you get the appropriate setup done, there is little maintenance to do. You just need to invest some time and money into it. You can also be creative in keeping everything on a budget while you save up for their "forever" homes.
