my little one loves the water but after a week of trying to catch speedy basking I walk in to this tonight!!!

One of my babies only likes to bask at night. I think they feel safer cos of the lack of outside things.

Really? Do you have the lamps on at night? Maybe they are too hot or something

I used to keep a heat lamp on at night, because it had a red light, and my turtle loved to bask at night as well.

I use an infrared lamp for heat, so that one is on at night. during the day the tempurature in their little habitat is only a couple degrees higher than at night, so in the day the basking area is like 80 - 82 and at night a little below 80. but their bin is right next to my whole computer station and the shier turtle doesn't really like to bask when i'm there typing stuff.

That will probably change over the years :). Mine use to be the same way but they they only jump down if they see I have food! Raina LOVES to watch Mortal Kombat lol!

Basking area probably needs to be a little warmer, as thats not much warmer than the water temp should be at...

Just sayin, not tryin to dog you or anything lol
