Well I've been busy lately but I was able to get some pics of my new Crocodile Newt and his 40 G tank.

Oh and I think since last time I updated, Kingler has lost her left hand, It got stuck(long Story...pics if you want to see..just ask)

pretty cool setups you go there. only suggestion i have would be to try to do something with the newts water bwol to make it seem more realistic. thats just bc i like to try to make things look realistic but hey, its up to you haha. do u hibernate ur turtles in that pond or do u have an indoor set up for winter?

My big RES has hibernated out there for the last 5 years, but the Belize needs to be brought in during the colder months into her 50 Gallon.

how deep is that pond? and i think this is a stupid question that i already knwo the answer too but why do you bring in your belize turtle?

This pond is only 2.5 ft. The old one was only 2 ft. She does fine. The reason I bring the Belize Slider in is because she's exotic and can't hibernate.

do u have anything on the bottom of ur pond? ive been thinking of making an outdoor set up like this for a while now

It was actually just the liner for awhile, but when the turtles started going in the sand are and coming back into the water, they would bring a lot in, so the whole bottom is sand.

Oh she's doing fine.

BTW Kingler has only laid 2 eggs so far, both on the bricks and not in the sand, but she may have laid the rest in the water and the Aggie may have eaten them, like last year.

The newt tank is really cool, except for the water bowl which is kind of an eyesore. A glass one or less plasticky one would do wonders for the general look of the enclosure. And maybe some more live plants would be nice.
Anyway is that a Echinotriton andersoni?

Thanks. That's a beautiful beast right there. During winter times I'm going to set up my first newt tank, since we have A/C installed in the room now and summer temps won't be a problem no more. I was thinking cynops orientalis.

I think when I was really little we had some of those. I have found keeping him at a temp of below 74F hard since in the same room is my 80F 55Gallon tank.

I know, it's hard to keep up with the temps.
Sorry for hijacking your thread, but do you know a species of newt more hardy to high temps, mostly aquatic and relatively small in size?
I was thinking a 30 gal tops..
