I'm thinking about getting a star tortoise, they're quite common here as pets but I'm not sure yet. Its supposed to be illegal to have one without a permit so I guess I'll have to figure that out. I'll definitely put up pics! I went to check them out yesterday and they were so adorable, in a grumpy old man way..

nice pets u got there. i am also from mumbai. ya its illegal to keep star as pet. pls refrain urself from keeping illegally.i too wanted a tortoise as pet. i saw a shop in delhi had leopard tortoise . wish we get some in mumbai.

The thing is that nobody cares even if its illegal, its just sad! There are police crawling outside crawford everyday but they don't bother... In fact one of those shopkeepers actually told me that they bribe them off... And the PETA people just care about publicity, there are so many endangered species that place sells, like macaws and stuff but they just concentrate on the tortoises cause they've become such a hit with the media. I really don't get it! I know at least 5 people who have turtles and tortoises with no problems. Thats the only reason I'm willing to get one but as I said, Lets see. There must be a way around it

i asked my friend to look for tortoise apart from star.
he said he will ask his delear. hopefuuly i will get tortoise which is legal !! fingers crossed

If you do find one, let me know please I also want one, otherwise I'm getting the star only. I didn't find any other one And I know I can take good care of it
