Our tank is 40 gallon and in my sons 10x10 room. I would love to have my turtle outside in a pond but finding it real expensive to do. Should I get a bigger tank or find a new home. I really would hate to give him up but he will be taking over the room real soon. Please any suggestions from someone who has had this problem too? :

Try doing a stock tank outside with some sort of cover to protect the turtle from predators.

Yeah cut some chicken wire and place it on top of the stock tank and secure it down with something

What they said. An outdoor pond would make your turtle very happy, and it's a beautiful addition to a garden but it's expensive.
Try with the stock tank buried in the ground first. If it's big enough theoretically could go without filtration.
