It's finally time to upgrade him. I bought a 10g tank today, and I had the stand already. I had all the other stuff already.

So Here's what I have done so far.
Heres the stand, door already removed, sanded and ready for painting.
Image
Here's sizing it up in my room. Gonna go right by the entry.
Image
Here's the painted stand.. 2 coats, waiting to dry.

Masking off the back of the tank

And starting to paint the back black, applying the first coat of three.
Image
Putting it back into my room, hinges have been put back on.

I have the lighting.. going on it tomorrow. I'll be finishing it tomorrow, I'm doing sand substrate with rock work in it. Then filling that sucker up and adding my filter. Which is still to be determined.. cant really use my XP1 because 25x turnover per hour is way too much for an axolotl. I'll probably go with my Marineland Penguin 100.

So whatcha think?

Very cool. I always liked the idea of painting tank sides black. If it was me I'd paint the 2 sides too.

Cool upgrade and stand! I like how you customized them. Can't wait to see axle in there!

Ok, heres the finished product.

I ended up going with the XP1 because the penguin 100 was way too loud. I'm still waiting on the tank to settle a bit.. but its going good. Axle seems a tad overwhelmed with the flow, but he should get used to it.. or I will have to built a spraybar out of PVC for him.

Wow you finished already! I bet he is so happy to have all that room. His new setup looks so natural and so much bigger than his old home.

I probably will at some point soon. I think I will go with silk plants though, to keep up the natural look of the tank.

Or I could get some live plants. decisions, decisions...
