The previous owner said that she was born that way, there is a small dent on one side of her shell.

No she has always been that color. We thought she was a weird color and have never seen one like her before. They do both shed a lot but from around the neck and limbs. I was told it was because they have a new environment.

Yes, their tank has a heater and it stays around 78 - 80 degrees. When we first got them they were in ICE cold water (they had been left outside in 40 degree weather) and they were both actually gray and didn't really have any color. We didn't realize their true color until we got them home and warmed them up a bit.

aw! those poor girls! I'm so glad you put them in a good home, kudos for that. how big are their shells? they don't look like 4 year old females, I'm assuming if they were in such poor conditions they probably weren't fed properly either or does that picture just not show how big they are?

Beautiful turtles... I've seen the light ones here and there: they're the "pastel" morph of red ear sliders

They are both about 8". My mother-in-law has a 5 year old RES turtle that is a male and he is much smaller than these two. I don't think the container we had them in to take their picture is showing their size that good. The large rock that is in their with them is about the size of a fist.

But Patel's often die very young, I've only seen a few adults.
