Aw, I see this on craigslist a lot too. I wish I could take them all home, but I just can't :( SOMEDAY I will live someplace with a warmer year round climate and I will build a huge outdoor pond and I will take every turtle I find in like this on CL and it can come live in my "turtle sanctuary!" <3

knowing this city and what i know of this lady, the new kitten probably wont be spayed.

cats are way more expensive int eh long run then turtles i think.

I agree the turtle is far more expensive. I mean for kittens you need kitty litter, a litter pan, toys and food and water. Thats all they really need.
Turtles need a tank, filter, filter media, heater, UVB bulb, heat bulb, lamps for both bulbs, some kind of basking spot, plus you have to pay for the electric the turtles stuff uses, as well as the water for the tank.

I dunno GOOD cat food is more expensive than turtle food and is a daily expense and vet bills for cats usually are higher with yearly check ups and vaccinations.

turtle food is alot cheaper to replace. thats why i said long run. at first you put out alot for the tank and equipment but after that its pretty solid.

cats you are constantly replacing litter, going to the vet alot more, like mentioned above.

and idk about you, but i have 5 fish tanks turtle included and my bills dont have a huge dent in them

This is very common in my country.
I bet almost every turtle keeper in Malaysia use the same thing to keep their turtles in a 1 inch water level except for some only.
I had tried to talk to those irresponsible people but in return they rejected my help and told me im not an expert so dun crap too much . They think they are right doing this .

If Sir Max is from Canada, I assume the ad is as well, which means that those 2 turtles were probably over $100 from a pet store. Our local pet store sells them for $69.99 or $49.99 if you buy a tank too.

JohnA, all of those supplies you listed would be FAR more expensive in Canada too.

I believe the 4" law is strictly US based. It looks like sx2r is from up North in Canada.
